Let’s . . . Play the Race Card!

It’s time for that favorite game of Liberals and Leftists, Let’s . . . Play the Race Card! (canned applause)

Our first contestant is that oh-so-Lefty “Christian”, (canned laughter) Jim Wallis! (identical canned applause)

Wallis earned the loudest applause of the night with his statement that the Tea Party only existed because Obama was black. “Barack Obama does not make this a post-racial society. This is the first friend I had who has become president. He has been stunned by the reaction to him. There would not be a tea party in America, I will this say this, if there wasn’t a black man in the White House.”

Wallis quickly clarified that you could disagree with Obama and not be a racist, noting that he had disagreements with him over immigration, poverty, and drones. Apparently, criticizing Obama from the left is not racist. “But [the Tea Party’s] disagreement with him is not about policy. It’s about who he is as a black man because he represents the future of America, and that makes a lot of white folks really angry and really scared.”

That’s right, Jim!  The Tea Party’s problem with Obama has nothing to do with Obamacare, massive deficits, tyrannical executive and federal overreach, rewarding illegal immigration, attacks on religious freedom, on privacy, or any other policy direction.  Not to mention those made up scandals about veterans dying on waiting lists and the IRS targeting the Tea Party.  It’s all about race!

Way to play the race card!  Thanks for playing, Jim! (canned applause)

Our next contestant is Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid! (canned applause) Harry, while talking about your efforts to undo the Hobby Lobby ruling, you said this:

“People are going to have to walk down here and vote, and if they vote with the five men on the Supreme Court, I think it’s — they’re going to have — be treated unfavorably come November with the elections,” Reid told reporters on Tuesday, according to ABC.

The Senate will act soon to “ensure that women’s lives are not determined by virtue of five white men,” Reid added.

Uh, oh! (canned laughter) Someone forgot to tell Harry that Clarence Thomas is Not White.

Sorry, Harry.  You get a Race Card FAIL. (obnoxious buzzer, uproarious canned laughter)

But thanks for playing anyway.  And for your consolation prize, we are giving you a framed photograph of Justice Clarence Thomas, just in case you need to be reminded Clarence Thomas is Not White.  (canned laughter)

And we will see you next time on Let’s Play the Race Card! (canned laughter, lame music)

Harry Reid – Despicable Liar

Dirty Harry Reid has stooped so low in the past, it has not occurred to me he could get any lower.

Having done his part to cram Obamacare down the throats of Americans, now he says, on the Senate floor no less, that the numerous stories of people suffering because of Obamacare are “all . . . untrue.”  Again, he has the gall to say those who are telling of suffering because of his work are all liars.

Yes, I share Guy Benson’s anger about this.  The only reason it is not rage is because I slept it off last night.  (And my longstanding policy is when I am really angry, I sleep first and wait until the morning to post.)

And Benson and Twitchy give a long but by no means exhaustive list of those who have told of their sufferings under Obamacare – people Harry Reid says are lying.

And remember, Harry Reid only has his position of Majority Leader because Democrats hold a (semi-fraudulent) majority in the Senate.  If you vote for a Democrat for Senate, you are voting for Harry Reid.

Do I have to say more?

Who Shut Down the Government?

Thomas Sowell, of whom I’ve been a fan since I was a youngun, cuts through the Democrat news media B. S. (Sorry for the redundancy there.) as few seem willing to do.

There is really nothing complicated about the facts. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted all the money required to keep all government activities going -- except for ObamaCare.

This is not a matter of opinion. You can check the Congressional Record. . . .

The Senate chose not to vote to authorize that money to be spent, because it did not include money for ObamaCare. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says that he wants a "clean" bill from the House of Representatives, and some in the media keep repeating the word "clean" like a mantra. But what is unclean about not giving Harry Reid everything he wants?

Thus the Democrats in the Senate all voted no on funding the government and willfully bought about the shutdown.  And they have rejected numerous efforts since by Republicans to reopen the government, including bills to fund veterans benefits, the national parks, NIH, the District of Columbia, and more.

Whatever your view of the shutdown and of Obamacare, those are indeed the facts.

Downfall XIII: Obamafail and the Democrat Shutdown (or Right Again)

Yesterday I asserted that Democrat politicos want and brought about the fed shutdown and that Obamacare is not ready for prime time.

Well, not only did we get a shutdown but Democrats in the House, Senate, and, yes, the White House have now rejected Republican efforts to fund portions of the federal government.  Why?  Because Democrats want this shutdown for perceived political gain.  Their flat rejection of yet more reasonable Republican compromises reaffirms that this shutdown is the Democrats’ desire and the Democrats’ doing.

As for Obamacare not being ready for prime time, not only was it very difficult to impossible to enroll on the Obama-trumpeted first day of the exchanges, but there was a security breach of people’s personal information.  Yes, on the very first day.

It’s not for nothing that Drudge for a time yesterday dubbed it “Obamafail.”

And your humble blogger is proven right again.

Downfall XII: Why Democrats Shut Down the Govt (Or ads that write themselves)

Ignore the snooze media spin for a minute.  (And I happened to see the end of the NBC Nightly News last night.  It was so over the top.  You’d almost think all the animals in the national parks are gonna DIE!)  The EXTREMISTS of the House offered the Senate a reasonable compromise to avert a partial government shutdown – delay the Obamacare individual mandate for a year and no special Obamacare deals for Congress.

Several Democrats publicly and no telling how many privately want to delay Obamacare.  Whatever your views of it, it is not ready for prime time, and the fall out from that will likely hurt Democrats in 2014.  And voting against special deals for Congress is good politics and good policy.  Harry Reid and Obama would have taken that deal in a minute if they had any decency and common sense and did not want a shutdown.

But as I posted yesterday, they do want a shutdown.  Thus every Senate Democrat, including vulnerable ones up for election in 2014, voted for Obamacare now (again) and for special deals for Congress and for a shutdown.

Can you say “ads that write themselves”?

(Yes, there was a typo in my tweet.  Pre-coffee?)

The rampant media spin is that this episode will hurt Republicans.  And – who knows? – there are enough stupid voters that it might.

But don’t be too sure about that.

If Obamacare and this foolish insistence on it NOW does cost Obama the Senate in 2014, he could be the lamest of lame ducks.  And he’ll only have himself, not Bush and not the FAR RIGHT, to blame.

The Napolitano Resignation and Harry Reid

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid did something odd yesterday even for him.  He threatened to go “nuclear” and change Senate rules to stop filibusters of presidential nominees even though Obama hasn’t had that much trouble getting his nominees through the Senate . . . and that in spite of how awful most of them are.

Why would Reid so stir up the pot for so little gain . . . and with the probability of it backfiring whenever Republicans next gain the Senate?

I think we just found out why this morning.  Janet Napolitano is resigning as Homeland Security Secretary.  And I think Reid knew.

Now if Obama nominates anyone nearly as bad as her as a replacement, there may be and should be a long confirmation fight in the Senate.  I think Reid’s threat yesterday was designed to discourage such opposition to Obama’s nominee, whoever that may be.

Yes, I do connect the dots sometimes.

And you thought I was hard on Harry Reid…

Mark Levin lets us know how he really feels about Harry Reid after the Demorat tied the tragic death of Marines in Nevada to the sequester:

Harry Reid, you’re the lowest of the low-lives, you know that? You really are at the bottom of the sewer, all the time on every issue. … You are just a very ill human being. And the fact that you’re the Senate majority leader says an awful lot about the Democrats in the Senate. … We deserve better than this man. He is a vicious stupid man.

Yep. Pretty much.

OUTRAGE: Harry Reid Ties Nevada Marine Tragedy to Sequester

I knew Demorats would go and are going to extreme lengths to make the sequester and Republicans look bad.  I knew Harry Reid is a conniving crooked liar.  (And trust me when I say I am putting that nicely.)  But I did not expect him to stoop this incredibly low.  In Harry Reid's own words:

As I indicated, it was quite a big explosion. We’ll follow this news very closely. I will do whatever I can going forward to support the United States military and the families of the fallen Marines.

Mr. President, it’s very important we continue training our military, so important. But one of the things in sequester is we cut back in training and maintenance. That’s the way sequester was written. Now, the bill that’s on the floor, we hope to pass today helps that a little bit. At least in the next six months, it allows the military some degree of ability to move things around a little bit. Flexibility, we call it, and that’s good. But we have to be very vigilant. This sequester should go away. We have cut already huge amounts of money in deficit reduction. It’s just not appropriate, Mr. President, that our military can’t train and do the maintenance necessary.

These men and women, our Marines were training there in Hawthorne. And with this sequester, it’s going to cut back this stuff.

Marines (who pointed out that if they could not do all the safety precautions, they would not do the exercise) and just about anyone else with any decency are outraged.

Most Democrats are not.

And that includes the Mainstream Noos Media.  Can you imagine the media outrage if a Republican had said something like this?

Democrat Election Theft?

The polls and indications are looking so good one may think the coming political bloodbath cannot be prevented by election fraud. But with several important races still close and with reports of voting “irregularities” around the nation, I am concerned.

In North Carolina, problems include a straight Republican vote being transformed into a straight Democrat vote:

A Craven County voter says he had a near miss at the polls on Thursday when an electronic voting machine completed his straight-party ticket for the opposite of what he intended.

Sam Laughinghouse of New Bern said he pushed the button to vote Republican in all races, but the voting machine screen displayed a ballot with all Democrats checked. He cleared the screen and tried again with the same result, he said. Then he asked for and received help from election staff.

“They pushed it twice and the same thing happened,” Laughinghouse said. “That was four times in a row. The fifth time they pushed it and the Republicans came up and I voted.”

I’ve personally witnessed fishy voter assistance in years past in North Carolina, but this is ridiculous.

Now it appears voting machines don’t like Republican votes in Virginia as well.

In Nevada, matters are worse. I can smell Dirty Harry Reid and his union goons all the way from Texas. A number of Clark County early voters found that Reid was preselected for them. How thoughtful. And I’m sure the fact that SEIU members are the technicians for Clark County voting machines has nothing to do with that. Nothing at all.

Seriously, this bothers me. If several voters are reporting Reid being preselected, no telling how many times that is occurring. Add a close election and reports of Demorat vote buying, and I am very concerned Dirty Harry is stealing this election.

And I could go on. Heck, if I hadn’t voted, I’d get the voter fraud app. In any case, double-check your ballots and verify your vote as much as possible.

Harry Reid: Chris Coons is “my pet.”

This is just too good to be true for the O’Donnell campaign. But it is true:

"I'm going to be very honest with you — Chris Coons, everybody knows him in the Democratic caucus. He's my pet. He's my favorite candidate," Reid said.

"Let me tell you about him: A graduate of Yale Divinity School. Yale Law School. A two-time national debate champion. He represents two-thirds of the state now, in an elected capacity. I don't know if you've ever seen him or heard him speak, but he is a dynamic speaker. I don't mean loud or long; he's a communicator. So that's how I feel about Delaware. I've always thought Chris Coons is going to win. I told him that and I tried to get him to run. I'm glad he's running. I just think the world of him. He's my pet."

I live far away in Texas, but I can hear the fun O’Donnell ads being made now. “In November, we can choose someone to represent us . . . or to be Harry Reid’s pet.”

The possibilities are endless.

Harry Reid Plays the Race Card

An incredible statement from Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid: "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?"

Check out the video for yourself.

Again, that racist Democrat mentality slips out – to be a good Negro or a good Mexican, you have to stay on the liberal plantation.

Do I need to say more?

Reid, Obama, and Democrat Double Standards

Other the weekend Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid got in hot water for racially tinged comments from 2008 about Obama’s skin color and lack of a “Negro dialect.” Democrat politicos are immediately forgiving him, even Al Sharpton of all people.

Can you imagine what their response would be if it were a Republican majority leader? Well, we don’t have to.

During a 2002 100th birthday party for Senator Strom Thurmond, then Majority Leader Lott made some light hearted laudatory remarks that were twisted into an endorsement of segregation. Lott neither mentioned nor endorsed segregation. Nevertheless he was crucified for his remarks. And none other than Barack Obama joined in:

“It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate (Lott) suggesting we had been better off if we had followed a segregationist path in this country after all of the battles and fights for civil rights and all the work that we still have to do,” said Obama.

He said: “The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party.”

And Harry Reid also said Lott should have resigned as Majority Leader. And that is not the only time he has engaged in racial posturing.

Now I do not think Reid should resign (although I pray for his defeat in this year’s elections). And I do not think Republicans should engage in the same sort of race-baiting that Democrats love.

Nevertheless, Democrat double standards surrounding Reid’s remarks are disgusting, to say the least.

Bipartisanship. Yeah. UPDATED

More bipartisanship in getting the “stimulus” package crammed down your throats passed:

GOP Sen. Jeff Sessions and Democrat Sen. Ben Nelson attempted several times to bring their bipartisan amendment to the floor last week. SA 239 would require local governments and businesses that receive porkulus money to use the federal E-Verify citizenship check system. . . .

But Democrat Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid refused to allow it to come to the floor. Now, we’re headed for cloture.

“While it is difficult to believe that Senate leaders might insist that illegal aliens have the same chance at new stimulus jobs as unemployed Americans, this scenario may now be at hand,” says Roy Beck of Numbers USA. “SA 239 is now unlikely to receive a floor vote.”

This is a strange slap in the face of Sen. Ben Nelson. My understanding is he played an important role in bringing over enough cowards liberal Republicans to get the “stimulus” package passed. Some thanks he’s getting. This is also very much against the spirit of the Senate where senators have traditionally been giving a lot of freedom in making amendments.

But those of you who voted for Obama in part because you hoped for a more nonpartisan or bipartisan Washington, sorry -- you’ve been punked . . . again.

UPDATE: The fight for the citizenship verification amendment is not over just yet.

Harry Reid might be about to learn the hard way that the United States Senate is no one-party dictatorship.
