The Napolitano Resignation and Harry Reid

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid did something odd yesterday even for him.  He threatened to go “nuclear” and change Senate rules to stop filibusters of presidential nominees even though Obama hasn’t had that much trouble getting his nominees through the Senate . . . and that in spite of how awful most of them are.

Why would Reid so stir up the pot for so little gain . . . and with the probability of it backfiring whenever Republicans next gain the Senate?

I think we just found out why this morning.  Janet Napolitano is resigning as Homeland Security Secretary.  And I think Reid knew.

Now if Obama nominates anyone nearly as bad as her as a replacement, there may be and should be a long confirmation fight in the Senate.  I think Reid’s threat yesterday was designed to discourage such opposition to Obama’s nominee, whoever that may be.

Yes, I do connect the dots sometimes.

You Boycott Arizona; I Will Boycott You.

I notice that Los Angeles has joined San Francisco in boycotting Arizona. And that prompts me to take a stand myself.

I have not commented on the new Arizona law against illegal immigration, but have followed the situation for some time. In recent years, Arizona has been plagued by the predations of illegal immigration and accompanying crime. Phoenix in particular has become a kidnapping capital.

Meanwhile, the Obama regime is dropping the ball on defending our borders. NHS head Janet Napolitano stands out in that regard. Having done little to defend Arizonians when she was governor of that unfortunate state, her stated attitude as NHS head is that illegal immigration “is not a crime per se.”

Arizona has had enough of this and has toughened their laws against illegal immigration with overwhelming support. And now, because, after years of increasing crime from illegals, Arizona is doing something to defend themselves against Mexican drug gangs and the like, self-righteous Lefties are boycotting that state?

Well, I got some news. If you boycott Arizona, I will do everything feasible I can do to boycott you. If you kick a people who are trying to defend themselves from criminals, you deserve nothing less.

Napolitano: Illegal Immigration “Is Not A Crime.”

DHS Head Napolitano apparently has been so busy going after us dangerous rightwingers – against the advice of her own civil liberties lawyers – that she not only is neglecting defending our borders, she doesn’t get that illegal immigration is crime:

And yes, when we find illegal workers, yes, appropriate action, some of which is criminal, most of that is civil, because crossing the border is not a crime per se. It is civil. But anyway, going after those as well.

With that attitude, no wonder the plague of illegal immigration and associated crimes greatly increased in Arizona while she was governor there, including Phoenix becoming the #2 kidnapping capitol of the world.

Now that she’s DHS head, that’s what all of us within a few hundred miles of the border have to look forward to. Oh joy.

I’d rather fire Napolitano myself.

Napolitano Dances Around DHS Report

That Department of Homeland Security report smearing us dangerous rightwingers is the gift that keeps on giving. Now the entertainment is coming from Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s attempts to dance around the report. Yesterday, she stood by it. But today, she apologizes for it, sort of.

Not surprisingly, her dance isn’t getting good reviews. But I find it quite entertaining myself.
