Housekeeping and a Dead Archbishop Imposter

I have procrastinated about it, but this morning I finally updated my links over on the right sidebar.  I deleted a few zombie blogs for one thing.  No offense to zombies or to the blog authors I hope.

More importantly, I’ve added what has become my favorite blog, Ace of Spades.  Be aware it is not a Christian blog nor claims to be one.  But it is so darn interesting, eclectic, funny, and on target most of the time.  And the “moron” commenters . . . wow, just wow.  If you can handle occasional naughty language, do check it out.  I’ve also added Instapundit, which is more restrained and but is also a favorite of mine and very informative.

But what goaded me to finally update my links was a certain one that cried out for deletion.  I will not even dignify it with a link in this post.  But a notorious imposter of the ashes of Thomas Cranmer did something Cranmer would never do.  He equated those who reject World Vision USA’s acceptance of gay “marriage” to those who passed by the wounded man in the parable of the Good Samaritan.  He even so smeared Justin Taylor (who has adopted orphans), Russell Moore, and Denny Burk by name.

This is a vicious smear indeed that chooses to overlook that these Christian gentlemen and those of like mind can and do help the poor through means other than World Vision.  (I’ve mentioned that ARDF is my favorite relief organization.)  I’ve disagreed with the ashes imposter before, but I could respect his boldness and thoughtfulness as I did so.  I do not know what has come over him now, but he has crossed the line.  I not only cannot recommend him any longer; I doubt I will be back at his blog with any frequency.  I felt removing him from the link list needed to be done post haste.

I hope this is not too unpleasant, but some wrongs need to be called out and countered immediately.  (And, yes, I did let him know of my displeasure and of my response in his comments.)

Obama Wants You to Ignore Me

Obama wants you “to stop focusing” on humble bloggers such as yours truly.

Blogs, particularly right-of-center blogs, have a history of holding tyrants and their kept “news” organs accountable.  That is why tyrants do not like them.

MSNBC’s Matthews Still in the Tank for Obama

Anyone who thinks complaints about the news media being in the tank for Obama were overdone should take a good, hard look at this video from MSNBC. In it, Chris Matthews frankly professes his purpose to be to do “everything” he can to make Obama’s presidency successful.

Not only is that just slightly biased (Did he purpose to make Bush’s presidency successful?), it is incredibly unprofessional. That is not the role of a journalist.

On a personal note, I used to be a fan of MSNBC and Matthews. MSNBC was my favorite TV news outlet, and, when something political interested me, I would tune to Matthews’ show Hardball. I was well aware of Matthews’ Democrat background, but he hid his bias well and ran a pretty good show.

Then Keith Olbermann came to MSNBC. And under his poisonous influence MSNBC has become a propaganda arm of the Left with Matthews gladly going along.

It’s sad really. But it’s also one more reason I am passionate about the role of blogs to get the truth out. They are needed now more than ever. For the “mainstream” news media not only cannot be trusted to be evenhanded; they cannot even be trusted to be professional.

Not-so-by-the-way, I’m also passionate about the role of conservative talk radio in informing people. Under the guise of “The Fairness Doctrine,” look for a lefty attack on that important exercise of freedom of speech. I haven’t warned of dangers to free speech for nothing.

The Right Has More Class

Remember how the lefty blogs responded to their defeat in 2004? Yes, it was rather . . . unseemly.

Now compare how the righty blogs are responding to their present defeat. Methinks it obvious who has more class.

By the way, I love this reaction to the election:

Ok, so we just re-elected Carter.

How bad were the late 70's, anyways? They gave us the Sex Pistols, Blondie, and The Talking Heads. And Star Wars. And Apocalypse Now.

And the Ayatollah Khomeni. And long, long gas lines. And runaway inflation. And disco.

Dear Lord, can this country stand four more years of disco?

Brad Drell’s Patience “Wears Utterly Thin”

Drell’s Descants is one of the several blogs I check out from time to time. I find his posts thoughtful and knowledgeable. He hasn’t been blogging much lately. I hope that is just a temporary lull.

However, I have found him in the past perhaps a bit too wedded toward working within the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion. So I find his latest (written) post very interesting. In his own words, his patience with the Anglican Communion and TEC is wearing “utterly thin.” He even avers, “I’ve often thought over the past years that some of the folks that left [the Episcopal Church] perhaps did so prematurely. I don’t think that anymore.”

Brad Drell has been the epitome of patience since 2003. So for him to say this is . . . saying something. It certainly shows that those orthodox who still insist on staying in the Episcopal Church may soon find themselves very very lonely.

He cuts to the core of the problem that is exhausting even his capacity for longsuffering:

Moreover, what everyone seems to be missing is that some sort of structural relief is necessary to provide conservatives some sort of safe haven within the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion. TEC was asked to provide this a number of times. They have not. The only thing that can be done is to excommunicate TEC from the Anglican Communion and recognize someone else.

Strong words. But ++Rowan and Company are not only unwilling to discipline the Episcopal Church, they don’t even lift a finger to provide that sorely needed relief for North American orthodox.

A church that shows it cares so little about the faith and the faithful is not worthy of allegiance. And the days that many orthodox – including even Brad Drell? – will remain aligned to said church are numbered.

New Liturgics Blog

Fr. John Hunwicke, the new Priest-in-Charge at St. Thomas the Martyr in Oxford has begun an interesting blog focusing on liturgical matters.

I do not suggest trying to slip Ungodly Innovations past him.

Pontifications Closes

This is very sad news. Al Kimel’s thoughtful blog will be missed by a great many.
