Democrats Attempt to Use the Coronavirus Crisis to Steal Elections

It’s in the House Democrat bill in black and white.  Among the porcine provisions are national same-day voter registration, national ballot harvesting, and yet more mail-in ballots.
This former election judge and anyone concerned about clean elections rather than stealing elections knows same-day voter registration, ballot harvesting, and expansion of mail-in ballots all enable election fraud.
So Nancy Pelosi's Democrats are holding coronavirus relief hostage in order to make it easier for them to steal elections.  There is no way around that.
I await concern from the “social justice” crowd.

About Trump at the National Prayer Breakfast

I hear our President, Still-Your-President Donald Trump, ruffled some feathers at the National Prayer Breakfast yesterday.
The details may be found elsewhere.  I would not have said everything he said in that setting.  But you know what?  I have not had the coup against me that Trump has endured for over three long years. (Well, actually it was a coup against my vote.)  And, especially with coup participant Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has long not respected the President nor his election, sitting there, I can understand Trump getting a bit hot.
It also should be remembered that Trump is President of the United States; he is no bishop and no priest.  And I am thankful, both for his office and that he does not hold churchly offices.  There’s one advantage of not having an established church right there.
But you know what else? If some pundit has been silent about the coup against Trump or worse has supported the coup yet now bashes Trump for being a bit hot upon his impeachment trial acquittal, he can shut up.  Yes, I said it.  That goes double for perverters of the faith like Jesuit LibPapist James Martin.
Such need to shut up and repent far, far more than President Trump.  And the rest of us would do well to use the following rule of thumb. If a pundit on American politics has not opposed or at least questioned the coup against Trump, he probably is not worth listening to whether he or she is a person of the Left or the Right or something in between.
If you think that would mean listening only to Trump supporters, not so.  Remember Democrats Alan Dershowitz and Jonathan Turley have opposed impeachment.  Both very much merit listening.  Even Van Jones, a slightly Left-wing opponent of Trump, who nonetheless has come to earn my respect and my ear, has questioned the wisdom of impeachment.
Don’t get me wrong. I am very much for free speech as longtime readers know.  And dialogue is vital in a democracy.  But there are still lines that should not be crossed. And the coup against Trump and against the 2016 election of him long ago crossed the line between legitimate policy disputes and illegitimate attacks on our Constitutional democracy.
It’s important that we get that and punish the perpetrators rather than give any credence to them or to their sycophants.

Pelosi and Other House Democrats: Amend Trash the First Amendment

I am not making this up.  House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other House Democrats want a Constitutional amendment to overturn the Citizens United decision and put free speech under the control of Congress.
Of course, the First Amendment as upheld by the Citizens United decision is simple and broad for a reason.  Once you turn Freedom of Speech into “Free speech for me, but not for thee,” you don’t have free speech at all, but something akin to what you have in Venezuela or Cuba, where only favored speech is free, if it can be called that.
And that is exactly what these Democrats are aiming for.  They wish to muzzle corporations and “special interests” while letting their union buddies continue to extort massive amounts of union dues from workers (which they can do in those states that do not have right-to-work laws) and funnel them to elect Democrats who will favor unions.  Yes, incestuous.  By the way, the recall elections in Wisconsin are about union anger at Gov. Scott Walker saying no to this gravy train.
And if the Democrats ever get control over political speech, they will muzzle those entities that oppose them while letting unions continue their use of forced dues in elections (which is itself a violation for free speech).  And that’s for starters.
“Free speech for me, not for thee.”
Those who have thought those accusing Democrats of being hostile to the Constitution are overwrought or paranoid may apologize in the comments.  Yes, I am forgiving.
I will give these Democrats credit for one thing, however.  At least they get the process right this time.  If one wants to change the Constitution, the way to do that is through amending the Constitution, not through the usual Democrat practice of ignoring it or getting judges to trash it.
Of course, the reason they want to amend the Constitution is because Citizens United will not let them ignore or trash the Constitution in this area for now.  And they want to amend it to rig the political process and to attack freedom, not protect it.  But credit where credit is due and all that.

Housekeeping:
Yes, this post looks slightly different because Google/Blogger changed their blog editor, about which I am not entirely pleased.  I might tinker with this.  Suggestions are welcome.

Some people will say anything.

Some things are so absurd already, they tax the ability of even the snarkiest blogger to lampoon them. For example, yesterday Nancy Pelosi said the following:

“Democrats have long fought for fiscal responsibility…”

And then she proceeded to blame the deficits on . . . wait for it . . . Bush, not Obama.

Pelosi and Obama tripled the budget deficit, but that is Bush’s fault. Bush made them do it while Obama and Pelosi fought, fought I say, for fiscal responsibility.

Like I said, some people will say anything.

(I know what more sensible people will say: Bush was irresponsible on spending. I agree. Nevertheless, Obama and Pelosi are three times more irresponsible, if you will, and are in no position to blame Bush or to give us lectures on “fiscal responsibility.”)

Fringe Astroturf Tea Partiers With No Popular Support (Win Again) UPDATED

Nancy Pelosi once famously derided tea partiers as not grass roots but “Astroturf” with little popular support. Yet somehow they keep beating the Republican establishment in U. S. Senate races in Alaska, Utah, Nevada, Kentucky, Colorado, Florida, and now Delaware. This year has been RINOgeddon.

And that blows up another myth about the tea party movement, that it is simply a tool of the Republican Party. The National Republican Senatorial Committee openly supported Charlie Crist against Marco Rubio in the Florida primary. And the Republican establishment opposed the likes of Joe Miller, Mike Lee, and especially Christine O’Donnell. Even after her primary victory, establishment Republicans are already undercutting O’Donnell with Karl Rove saying she cannot win in November and with the NRSC withholding money. (By the way, if NRSC head Cornyn doesn’t get a good primary challenge next time around, I might do it myself.) No, the Republican establishment is not happy about what has transpired.

You know it’s funny. Every time the Republican establishment feeds us conservatives sorry candidates, we are told to support the party. But now that the shoe is on the other foot, they are sore losers, refusing to endorse or fund the winning tea party candidate, and even considering a write-in campaign. RINOs sure are sore losers.

And tea partiers are doing the Republican Party and the country a favor by beating these losers. When you really need RINOs to step up and do the right thing, they stab you in the back. Remember Arlen Specter participating in killing Robert Bork’s Supreme Court nomination? I do. Who needs enemies in the camp like that?

But back to my original point – the tea party movement has already succeeded beyond even my expectations. I remember back when it started in Spring ’09. Conservatives, including this conservative, were disheartened. I personally felt under bombardment from Obama on multiple fronts. Day after day, he pressed something new in his Leftist agenda. Stopping the Obama/Pelosi/Reid machine looked like a long shot. And taking Congress from the Democrats in 2010? Yeah, right.

But now look. Those who derided the tea party movement are now the ones who look silly (like my headline). Democrats, and RINOs too, are on the run. A lot of thanks for that should go out to the tea party movement. They began this fight back when hope was fleeting.

The work is far from done. But I do not think it too early to salute them.

UPDATE: NRSC head Cornyn has seen the light (which is a tea party freight train coming right at him) and is supporting and funding O’Donnell.

Funny how he always shows up late to tea parties.

Pelosi: Investigate Ground Zero Mosque Opponents UPDATED

When I first saw this, I said, “What?!?” I did not think she was that, well, stupid. But sure enough, it’s true. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has called for “looking into” funding of the opposition to the Ground Zero mosque.

The audio may be found here.

At the very least, there is the appearance of a brazen attack on free speech here. But putting that aside for now, I wonder if Democrats have a death wish. Or, in biblical terms, it is remarkable that they keep digging pits and then jump right into them.

As if the poor economy and the past enormities of Obama weren’t enough, The Dear Leader just had to weigh in on the Ground Zero Mosque controversy and support building the mosque. He had since backtracked and said he wasn’t really supporting the mosque, but the damage was done and is getting worse.

(By the way, would it have been that hard for Obama to at least play the statesman and say that he supports freedom of religion for all Americans but that Muslims would do well to consider other locations for a mosque?)

That Pelosi would go so far as to at least seem to advocate calling the federal dogs on those who oppose the mosque shows how much this issue is hurting Democrats. But her call will just enrage people that much more.

Expect a mealy-mouthed “clarification” from her soon, but, again, the damage is done. She said what she said. And it is spreading like wildfire.

And her statement prompts me to make a call of my own. I’ve stated it might happen, but now I am convinced it will: this November will indeed be a political bloodbath for Democrats. The Republicans will not only take the House but will make historic gains, even bigger than 1994. I am yet not sure that the Republicans will take the Senate. It will be close one way or the other on that.

This is not reason for complacency, however. The Democrats are getting desperate and will try almost anything to hold on to their power . . . as Nancy Pelosi’s statement illustrates.

MORE:

As if the Ground Zero Mosque is not angering people enough, more gasoline for the fire:

New York officials are not allowing a Greek Orthodox church destroyed by 9-11 to rebuild near their original site.

So a church of long standing destroyed at Gound Zero cannot rebuild there. But a new mosque can be built there?

Meanwhile, as I predicted, Pelosi’s office has issued a clarification. But it is clear she still does not get how outrageous her comment was.

Don’t Ask Democrat Pols About the Constitution . . .

. . . unless you want to see them reveal themselves as arrogant and power-hungry.

Yes, that may be slightly harsh. But it seems that lately they take great and pretentious offense or evade the question or both when one ventures to ask whether their policies, particularly on healthcare, are allowed by the Constitution.

Cases in point:

Nancy Pelosi.

Rob Andrews.

Patrick Leahy.

Maybe that is because Democrats don’t give a . . . have any regard for the Constitution. Leahy in particular has proven that in spades by the bozos he has supported (and the good nominees he has opposed) for the federal judiciary.

And to ask them as they try to exercise naked power whether they are wearing any constitutional clothes . . . . Well, one shouldn’t ask such things.

Pope Puts Pelosi in Her Place

I am gratified to see that, in a private audience, Pope Benedict let Nancy Pelosi know in no uncertain terms that her pro-abortion policies are not acceptable. From a Vatican statement:

Following the General Audience the Holy Father briefly greeted Mrs Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, together with her entourage.

His Holiness took the opportunity to speak of the requirements of the natural moral law and the Church’s consistent teaching on the dignity of human life from conception to natural death which enjoin all Catholics, and especially legislators, jurists and those responsible for the common good of society, to work in cooperation with all men and women of good will in creating a just system of laws capable of protecting human life at all stages of its development.

More on Pelosi’s Failure (Sabotage?)

A number of sources indicate that while she was playing brazen partisan politics with the Treasury Asset Relief Plan, Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave many, maybe all, of her Democrats a free pass to vote how they please. While she was bashing Republicans, she did little to nothing to round up the necessary Democrat votes. Heck, that’s her job!

It truly makes me wonder if she sabotaged the bill in part to bash Republicans with it. Redstate thinks that is indeed to case. I don’t know. But to completely fail to do her job, then to bash Republicans for it is beyond inexcusable.

The Gateway Pundit is on this, particularly here.

MORE: Even one liberal agrees that it’s time for Pelosi to go.

Pelosi Blows It. (UPDATED)

Nancy Pelosi should resign as Speaker of the House.

Today she utterly failed to lead in by far the most important matter of this Congress. It’s bad enough that she failed to get over 90 of her fellow Democrats to vote for the compromise Treasury plan. But then she just had to give that obnoxious partisan floor speech to ensure that any leaning Republican would say, “To Hell with it” and vote against the bill. Her behavior was beyond bizarre.

And then she dares to come out after her failure and babble about “bipartisanship.” What a two-faced [self-censored]!

There are plenty of fools on both sides of the aisle. But this woman has no shame. Her conduct makes me wonder if she tried to sabotage the bill. I fear the world economy just got sabotaged.

It will be an interesting night in the markets.

UPDATE: It’s come out that some of her most partisan remarks were ad lib departures from her prepared speech. She just couldn’t restrain herself!

What a fool.
