Former Speaker
Boehner must have had a few before appearing at Stanford last night. For he let it all hang out, especially
in his attitudes toward Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.
Much of the discussion – and laughs – focused on Boehner’s views on the current presidential candidates. Segueing into the topic, Kennedy asked Boehner to be frank given that the event was not being broadcasted, and the former Speaker responded in kind. When specifically asked his opinions on Ted Cruz, Boehner made a face, drawing laughter from the crowd.
“Lucifer in the flesh,” the former
speaker said. “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with
almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch
in my life.”
Boehner described other Republican
candidates as friends. In particular, the former speaker said he has played
golf with Donald Trump for years and that they were “texting buddies.”
Further, he
said he could vote for Trump in November, but could not vote for Cruz. And he was the Republican leader in the
House? Can you say “RINO”?
This confirms
to me that Boehner is a back-stabbing traitorous establishment tool who had to
go. But that is done, thank God.
So more important
is what this says about Ted Cruz and Donald Trump. As Carly Fiorina well said yesterday, Ted Cruz has the right
kind of enemies. Clearly Boehner
is one of them.
So why is Trump the anti-establishment
candidate? He’s one of Boehner’s “texting
buddies.” He is a big contributor
to the Clintons and to any number of other Democrats.
But he and not
Boehner’s enemy Ted Cruz is the anti-establishment candidate?
A lot of people
aren’t thinking.
