Obama: “I don’t want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to just get out of the way…”

I know I’m beginning to sound like a broken record, but our president is looking and sounding more like a speech-squelching totalitarian every day. Yesterday he said this:

I don’t want the folks who created the mess to do a lot of talking. I want them to just get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don’t mind cleaning up after them, but don’t do a lot of talking.

Watch it for yourself:

If this were in isolation, I would chalk it up to ill-advised rhetoric. But coming from a man who has just sent the brownshirts and goons to town halls and whose White House has urged people to snitch on free speech, this gives me the chills.

Obama is right. What should he say? I'm going to work hand and hand with the people that handed me an economy in free fall and two wars. Give your president a break. Pray for him, critize him when necessary, but lets be fair to him. No i'm not a democrat, liberal, republicann or conservative, just a follower of Jesus trying to pray, think and work for the best.

Obama was handed an economy that was controlled by the democratic congress for the last 2 years of the Bush administration. As we all know congress is the governmental unit that spends the money in the bills it passes. a president cannot run the economy unless he has congress doing his bidding.

  3. Pax, Obama is right to attack the free speech of Americans and to tell them to shut up??

    No, he is not right!

And I'll give Obama a break when he stops acting like a totalitarian Dear Leader.

    Wanna be ,

He is talking about a specific group of politicians that have an agenda. He's trash talking - it is a sports analogy. Where do these extreme notions about Obama come from? I suspect it's political ideology masquerading as objective analysis- always dangerous especially coming from people of the Faith. As Christian we should be very careful about getting caught up in politically inspired passions. I still cringe whe I read about ministers beating the war drums before the civil war and good catholic priest giving the Hitler salute prior to WWII. (Civitas Dei)

  5. And I cringe at your weak defense of Obama's attacks on free speech, Edward. Look to your own house. Are you not providing cover for oppression?

    Wanna Be,

I'm trying to be objective, eyes wide open. Obama has been president for six months and you are using language like fighting oppression. By the way I'm not defending Obama. I am simply rejecting christians contributing to the highly partisan rhetoric directed towards him. In other words, I am talking about christians and the political process. What we ought to bring to the table. I am a traditional Anglican following the political tradition of Augustine (his work City of God is worth the read). By the way, I supported GWB (when idividuals on the left were demonizing him 7 months ago), defended him and prayed for him until he left office; however, I did not support our war in Iraq.

The people that messed things up are the government who thought they were experts in insurance and medicine and could dictate and regulate them ad nauseam.

The government already runs two healthcare systems, Medicaid and Medicare and has made an unbelievable mess out of each and the collateral damage from their mismanagement has done much to promote the current "crisis".

    Government is the problem.

    Lawrence,

I agree with you about the clumsiness of government run anything, but big businesses running hospitals, insurance companies and the drug industry can be equally dangerous. I think the common good can be found somewhere between these two poles.
