Wilson is originally from Charleston (where I now live) and now lives and represents Columbia (where I used to live); while I've only met him a couple of times, we have a number of mutual friends. Most everyone who knows him was somewhat surprised that he did that as he's actually pretty soft spoken (which gave it more effect, if you think about it!), but agrees that he had to be really frustrated.
He apologized to the President but has made it clear that he will not cowtow to Congress and issue an apology to them. I appreciated his candor and I appreciate that he's standing firm -- I still think him worthy of admiration.
Mr. Wilson's shout brings back memories of old fashioned politics. Why apologize? Debate the point he makes.
